Say Something Mean (Austin Cash/RD Mauzy 3-VHS Boxed Set)

from Ronald Daniel Mauzy

"In May of 2018, RD Mauzy and I premiered Say Something Mean for One Nite Standard #29 at the now-demolished Lalaland Gallery in Fayetteville, AR with support from Zach Fravel and Elephantom. The piece was a video triptych, consisting of a generative soundtrack which I composed, and three screens which cycled through aleatorically assembled video footage shot by RD. Say Something Mean, which had one additional screening at Dillon Doom's Video Art Showcase at Backspace on June 18 of the same year, was originally shown on three separate projectors. An approximated version of the experience has existed for streaming on YouTube for a couple of years, but RD an I are proud to present a physical copy for you to exhibit Say Something Mean in your home, gallery, or highfalutin art museum. This package, a limited edition of three, consists of three VHS tapes, each of which contains one screen of Say Something Mean. The set is meant to be played simultaneously on three separate televisions in whatever configuration you find most stimulating. The VHS sleeves are repurposed sleeves from Hollywood classics, refinished with found materials (in this case, liturgical sheet music and brochures concerning colon health). The boxes are recycled USPS containers. Zero waste!

The Say Something Mean box set will never be reprinted! Consume while supplies last."
